Ukraine aims to boost sugar production in 2010
Ukraine plans to encourage farmers to increase the 2010 sugar beet area by 37 percent and to boost white sugar output to 2.5 million tonnes from 1.37 million in 2009, a deputy farm minister was quoted as saying on Monday. Ukraine, which consumes about 2.0 million tonnes of sugar per year, used to produce about 5.0 million tonnes of white sugar from sugar beet in Soviet times, but cut production because it was unable to compete with much cheaper sugar made from cane.

Milk output down 1.4% in 11 months
The production of milk and meat of all types fell by 1.4% and 0.4% respectively, while egg output grew by 6% in January-November 2009 compared to the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee has reported.

Ukraine 2009 grain crop at 48.2 million tonnes
Ukraine's farms have almost completed the 2009 grain harvest, threshing 48.2 million tonnes of grain bunker weight as of December 8, UkrAgroConsult agriculture consultancy quoted official data as showing on Wednesday. Ukraine harvested a record 53.3 million tonnes of grain bunker weight in 2008.
