Ukrainian merchant ports increased their net profits 2.5 times during the first ten months of 2009 compared to the like 2008 period, from UAH 670.056 million to UAH 1.684,143,4 billion (1 USD - 7.99 UAH), say the latest reports by the Transport and Communications Ministry of Ukraine.

Dakor Agro Holding intends to raise net profit five times by 2012
Dakor Agro Holding intends to raise its net profit 5.5 times, to UAH 648.5mn (EUR 53.55mn USD 81.06mn) in 2011, against 2008. Net revenue is planned to amount to UAH 1.824bn, against the expected UAH 660.9mn in 2009 (down 7.8% against 2008). Income from sugar business is planned to reach UAH 1.052bn, from other kinds of agricultural business UAH 758mn.

Ag Minister predicts part of domestic sugar mills to switch to biofuel production in 2010
“In my opinion, part of the sugar mills will switch in 2010 to making biofuel from beet or to making ingredients for mixed gasolines containing a biological component,” said Minister Yuriy Melnyk. He pointed out that several such projects already exist and are ready to 50-60%. Yu.Melnyk believes this area’s development will be promoted by a law on granting tax preferences to biofuel producers that is to come into force from January 1, 2010.
