Ukraine. Agrarian Fund expecting lower prices for grain
Due to a sharp jump in grain prices, Agrarian Fund has suspended purchases of grain. This was reported during an open meeting on agriculture by Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Viktor Slauta. The price of the third-class wheat in the domestic market has already reached USD 1,800/ton (1 USD - 7.89 UAH).

Wet Weather May Keep Frost at Bay in Southern Prairie

As of August 25, Russia produced 41.5 mln tonnes of grains
According to official data of the federal subjects of the Russian Federation, as of August 25, 2010, Russia harvested grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of nearly 20.2 mln ha (or 50% of the forecast), a decrease of 2.6 mln ha compared to 2009 level. The general grain production volumes totaled 41.5 mln tonnes, as opposed to 60.5 mln tonnes in 2009. The average yield totaled 20.6 c/ha as opposed to 26.5 c/ha in 2009, announced the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

In 2010, Ukraine to harvest sunflower seed at the previous year level
In the current year, sunflower seed production in Ukraine will possibly total nearly 6.4 mln tonnes, which almost corresponds to the previous year level, declared Stepan Kapshuk, the General Director of the Association "Ukroliyaprom", on August 26. According to him, the average yield index will total 14.4 c/ha.
