According to the results of 2017, Ukraine became the third largest supplier of agricultural products to Turkey and took 7, 2% in the structure of Turkish imports of agricultural products, second only to the United States and Russia. Over the past 5 years, exports from our country have grown by USD 240, 6 mln, and imports have dropped by almost half - by USD 262, 5 mln or -47%.
Turkey is one of the largest trading partners of Ukraine and takes 6th place among buyers and the third among suppliers of agricultural products.
The trade balance of agricultural products between Ukraine and Turkey is positive for our country. Thus, in 2017, domestic agricultural products were exported in the amount of USD 928,9 mln, while imports from Turkey amounted to USD 293,1 mln.
The main export items of agri-food products from Ukraine to Turkey are soybeans (30% in structure), maize (11%), sunflower oil (11%), wheat (11%) and bran (9%). Over the past 5 years, a significant breakthrough occurred in the supply of butter, sugar and legumes. Thus, according to the results of 2017, sugar was sold for a total amount of USD 24,5 mln, butter for USD 24,2 mln, as well as fresh legumes for USD 20,1 mln and refrigerated
«Ukraine is expanding the range of products which are exported in Turkey, diversifying product items. If five years ago Turkey imported 126 types of agricultural products from Ukraine, then in 2017 - 145. We managed to start the sales of legumes and soybean cake, margarine, malt and malt extract, grape wines, vermouth and beer, as well as nuts», -commented Daria Grytsenko, foreign agro-trade analyst of the Association «Ukrainian Agribusiness Club».
