UCAB participated in working meeting on agricultural land turnover
Meeting of the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to land reform was held today. The working conference was chaired by Volodymyr Hroisman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine. The meeting was attended by people's deputies, representatives of industry associations, farmers and owners of land shares.
During discussion it was stressed on the necessity of introducing market on a step-by-step basis with protective criteria that will enable not to stop but to continue the growth of gross output and efficiency of the agricultural sector activity as well as ensure comprehensive development of the rural areas and preserving of soils. In general, UCAB supported generation and discussion of this concept. During the meeting Oleksandr Bakumenko, Deputy Head of the Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations, announced the results of parliamentary hearings regarding this topic.
Taras Vysotskyi, General Director of the Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’ says: ‘At the meeting all attendees agreed that it is necessary to work out the concept of land market. All participants expressed the willingness to elaborate its content. It was agreed that the market of agricultural land should be triggered. In order to generate the concept to the fullest extent, a working group has been established today comprising UCAB. Once the concept is elaborated in a prompt manner, it will be discussed both at the state level and with a broad involvement of communities.
