Artyomsol has chance of returning to Russian market – head of Rospotrebnadzor

The Ukrainian enterprise Artyomsol will be able to return to the Russian edible salt market if it corrects the violations, Anna Popova, Russia's Rospotrebnadzor director and chief sanitary inspector, told Interfax on Monday.

Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import of salt manufactured by Artyomsol, which accounted for a considerable segment of the Russian market, on Monday.

"The very word 'suspension' indicates the possibility of resuming the supplies after product compliance confirmation procedures," Popova said.

Popova said the decision about a temporary suspension on the import of edible salt from Ukraine is currently in place only for the enterprise Artyomsol. "Unconditional grounds for the suspension of supplies are currently in place for only one manufacturer," Popova said.

The sanitary service earlier said salt manufactured by Artyomsol had been found to fall short of the requirements on iodine trace contents and organoleptic indicators.
