Alex Lissitsa says agricultural education cannot wait any longer for reforms
On May 31, 2017 an on-site meeting of the Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Science and Education entitled ‘Legal regulation of activity of agricultural education institutions in Ukraine’ took place at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences.
The meeting was attended by Alex Lissitsa, President of the Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’, acting as a head of Council for Agricultural Education at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. He believes that modern agricultural education and science are standing in need of immediate radical reforms but not of slow efforts to implement the changes. ‘First of all, we need reform of vocational education in agriculture sector. Introduction of public-private partnerships as well as dual education is a high-priority task that will solve the issue of education quality. If the state cannot provide funding of the reforms, the full autonomy in making decisions should be given to the education institutions’, noted Mr. Alex. He also expressed an opinion that business should be in a position to finance education and science legally.
It bears reminding that on June 8 during exhibition ‘Agro 2017’ in the pavilion No.5 the round table ‘Agricultural Education and Science in Ukraine: Time to Reboot’ will be held where Taras Vysotskyi, General Director of the Association ‘Ukrainian Agribusiness Club’, will analyze advantages and disadvantages of agricultural education in terms of business needs.
